NURSING AND MIDWIFERY UNIT
The Nursing and Midwifery Unit oversees and evaluates all nursing personnel (registered nurses, Midwives.) Guiding staffing procedures, setting objectives and long-term goals for the nursing department while create a collaborative and efficient workplace with attention to quality standards and policies. There, all personnel will be able to do their best in caring for patients:
- Defines, establishes and maintains standards of nursing practice
- Actively collaborates with medical staff to achieve an integrated holistic “team” approach to patient’s care;
- Linking with school of nursing to ensure an activity collaborative relationship between nursing education and nursing services;
- Creates an educational and practice environment conductive to the development of nursing staff for management and leadership roles in Nursing.
- Participate in the strategic planning process in developing the vision, mission and strategic objectives for the hospital.
- Develop an action plan for nursing services in line with the hospital strategic plan and objectives.
- Prepares periodic Nursing activity Division reports for the Hospital Director General;
- Ensure an effective communication thin in Nursing Services and the hospital management. Maintains an open, 2-way line of communication with all categories of nursing staff;
- Conducts quarterly and annual performance evaluations of nursing managers and nursing staff;
- Supervise all nursing care activities in the hospital;
- Supervise consumption and order management of drugs and medical equipment services;
- Supervise the cleanliness of the premises and respect the rules of hygiene and asepsis by the nursing staff;
- Participate in the general visit of the Physician;
- Control the application by the visits of the instructions issued by the doctors of service or Hospital management committee
- The Hospital Director Nursing provides leadership for the Quality Improvement process as follows:
- Service the regularity and quality of health education delivered at the service level;
- Supporting and guiding implementation of quality improvement activities at the hospital
- Communicate effectively the importance of a patient-centric environment, and share their vision for excellence.
- To carry out interdisciplinary processes to meet organizational QI goals and to measure, improve, and control nursing-sensitive indicators affecting patient outcomes specific to nursing practices.
